AEGEE-Groningen: Hitchhike to Dresden

Groningen is the largest city in the north of the Netherlands, as well as the name of the surrounding province. Groningen is a student city and also a city with a big AEGEE-Antenna. Quite regularly they organize hitchhiking races to several cities in Europe, with a cultural program and a lot of going on during the day and night being in the visited city.

Next weekend, 3rd to 5th of June, a group of 16 AEGEEans from AEGEE-Groningen is coming to Dresden. Well, 16 if all of them arrive, otherwise a few less…

What’s the plan?
After arriving on Friday and maybe joining us for our regular Ice Cream Test they will sleep the first night at their hosts‘ places from AEGEE-Dresden...

1050 people, one great event: Agora Bergamo 2016

Fly forward was the motto of the great Agora Bergamo, which took place from 18th to 22nd May 2016 in the city of Bergamo in northern Italy. Including all participants, organisers, and helpers, 1050 people were present in Bergamo – with this the aim Agora of the 1000 was clearly reached. All in all agora Bergamo is the top 5 of the biggest of all 61 Agorae – and also the biggest statutory event since the autumn Agora 2006 in Napoli.

AEGEE-Dresden showed up with a magnificent number of nine AEGEEans, including the three delegates we chose democratically during a local plenary meeting to represent us officially and during all voting sessions. And of course our mascot DresDino was also present.

One of our members present at the Agora, Nadja Baumert, describes her impressions ab...

My impression of Develop Yourself 2

It was second time that the lovely antenna of AEGEE Dresden organized the event Develop yourself! vol.2 in a little village nearby Dresden. Before we arrived, I did not have any special expectations, because it was the first time taking part in a bigger AEGEE event for me.

This weekend was one of the best in my life. Believe me I am not exaggerating. Why?
First, it was a beautiful silent place, good to come down and get to know the other people fast. The organizers did a great job creating an atmosphere, which made the participants feel welcome and comfortable. We had great food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and all the breaks in-between. They even cooked twice for the ones with allergies and special wishes.

Second for sure the workshops...

Develop Yourself 2 – Main organizer’s words

During the last weekend, AEGEE-Dresden offered the training course Develop Yourself 2 for motivated AEGEEans and students from Dresden. From Thursday to Sunday, 24 people from 11 different countries could experience some AEGEE spirit right before the Christmas time and of course, develop themselves!

After the event finished and the main organizer, Nico Westerbeck, could get some sleep, he tells us how the event went and how it is to organize such an event.

Nico, this was your first event for AEGEE-Dresden as a main organizer. How and when did you get this important position?
Nico: The old board started an open call for the organizing team of this year’s Develop Yourself, and I thought that would be a great possibility...

Share Ideas, Share Cluj – NWM Cluj 2015

Feeling European – something you can’t learn, but experience. That’s why I applied for the Network Meeting Cluj-Napoca in Romania. The topic was about sharing ideas and experience in an international group of AEGEE members from all over Europe. We were a great group, 25 participants from Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Serbia, Hungary, Germany, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Spain and Italy, all eager to share our opinions, ideas and previous experience concerning the work in our local antennae.

Ander, one of the members of this year’s Comité Directeur (the European board of AEGEE), was our trainer during the sessions, just like Tekla from Hungary as the current NetCom...

AEGEE-Dresden demonstrating against Pegida

It is the 9th November 2015. This date has a special meaning in the german history. 77 years ago, the so called Crystal Night took place. Organized and guided by the NS-regime, fascists committed violent actions against Jewish people, their relatives, their flats, their businesses and their holy places: the synagogues. Over 1,000 synagogues were burnt down on German territory, more than 400 people died or were forced into suicide and in this night, it was announced that 30,000 Jewish people should be deported to concentration camps. Historians regard this night as the beginning of the war against the Jews in Germany.

Unfortunately, the 9th of November is a Monday in 2015. And Mondays in Dresden are related to Pegida...
